Christmas Day Photo Shoot with Erika
It was cold out this Christmas Day and I wanted to do what I have never done before...a Christmas Day portrait shoot of my daughters. Erika was really the only one that wanted to do it, so she and I went to Lock 3 Park in Downtown Akron for about one hour. Erika donned her new clothes that she just got for Christmas. We had a lot of fun.

It's Winter in Northeast Ohio!
Just some winter scenery shooting. Not much to do with camera controls besides setting proper shutter speed in manual mode. Distance scenery photography already has great depth of field, so a photographer has to watch and adjust their shutter speed.

More Winter Spot Focus Photography
I just love to shoot spot focus photography. It just has an intriguing effect on the imagination when we look at photos. I froze when shooting these, but the payoff of a good shot makes it worthwhile!

Don't Disturb the Snow!
This was a fun series to shoot. I fired at 1.4 aperture and had to lay down in the snow to capture these images. I love undisturbed snow, it just has a calmness to it. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! Feel free to leave comments too.

Try Something New!
Lately, I have been working extensively with bokeh, or blur shooting. So, tonight I took to the streets of downtown Akron to shoot more but this time capturing a slice of life in the rain. All of these shots were fired with my 50mm fixed focal length lens. Therefore, you will not see zoom in and zoom out shots.
These are shot with a wide open aperture or opening. When the aperture is wide open, a photo has a lot of background blur because the Depth of Field is limited. However, when an object's distance is farther away from the lens, less blur occurs. One advantage of shooting wide open is the amount of light that is allowed to enter through the lens and hit the camera sensor increases, thus allowing you to shoot in lower light. DoF shooting is a whole different subject which I will not even try to cover here.

Hatton Gradeschool
Went to a local grade school this morning when it was 22 degrees and no one was around! It amazes me how much photography is right at the tip of our fingers as I walk around.
