City of Akron, July 4th Fireworks

I used my tripod from atop the parking deck at Lock 1. This was the first time I tried fireworks and it was interesting. I set my aperture to it's smallest opening and set my shutter speed to lag 1 to 2 seconds with the fireworks. The city scape night shots actually took 15 - 30 seconds to expose with a mall aperture, but the detail is awesome!

Time For Some Sweets!

I loved the colors in the candy bag. So I set my aperture wide open to throw much of the pic out of focus and set my ISO low for crispness, and snapped away! These look yummy! Go ahead and have a few tootsie rolls...on me.

You can create some really nice effects with slow shutter speeds in night time shooting.
You will need to use a tripod or bean bag or something else to set your camera on.

Engagement Hands

Women's hands are beautiful photography subjects. 

Missy, my mom's dog

Good dog portrait shots require you to get down to their level sometimes.  So, I laid on my stomach and fired away with Missy. 

I rarely center my subject. Placing your subject dead center can make a photo become static and boring. Throwing your subject off center adds interest.

One key to great pet photos is sharp eyes. Even if the other parts of the photo are blurred, everybody gravitates to eyes. 

Beckwith's Apple Orchard

I love picture taking at Beckwith's Orchard in Brady Lake. In an era which sees photographers as menaces, Mr. Beckwith tells me to have a blast doing my photography at his family orchard. He always tells me that his number one rule is "you are not allowed to hurry."
